OFFICERS WILL TAKE OATH IN THE NEW YEAR

The command staff of the newly established Miami Gardens Police Department will be sworn into office at 6 p.m. Jan. 16 in a ceremony slated for the Lou Rawls Performing Arts Theatre at Florida Memorial University, 15800 NW 42nd Ave.
The top brass include the chief, Matthew Boyd, a former police major with the Miami-Dade police department, and the deputy chief, John Feltgen, a former assistant director in the Broward Sheriff's Office.
